Tibetans in Mumbai commemorated the celebration of the 30th Nobel Peace Prize anniversary to His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama. was celebrated in Mumbai on 10 December 2019.Dr. Harshadeep Kamble (IAS), Development Commissioner, Industries Department, Government of Maharashtra was the Chief Guest of the event. He was accompanied by Mr Nikhil Meshram, Additional Commissioner and Mr Suresh Londe, Joint Director in Development Commissioner Office. Other guests on the occasion were Smt. Urmila, Local Corporator and Shri C. A. Kallianpur, National Coordinator, Friends of Tibet.
Dr Kamble in his address urged the gathering to uphold the teachings of His Holiness.
The other guests also spoke on the occasion congratulating His Holiness on the occasion. Additionally, Mr Suresh Londe shared about the possibilities of learning different sets of entrepreneurship skills that may add extra benefit to the income of sweater selling profession.
Later, the members of the Tibetan Sweater Sellers Association followed by the staff of Men Tsee Khang, Mumbai and others presented Tibetan cultural dance. Afterwards, many of the people present there joined for gorshe – Tibetan circle dance.
During the occasion, Mumbai Tibetan Residents Association (MTRA) was formed and the formation of the association took place in the presence of ITCO Coordinator Mr Jigmey Tsultrim. The group unanimously elected Ms Tenzin Dekyong as President and Mr Tashi as General Secretary of the Association.
The program was well attended by the members of Tibetan Sweater Sellers Association, staffs of Men Tsee Khang, other Tibetans living in Mumbai and local Indians in large number.
