Dharamshala: The COVID-19 Pandemic has affected all walks of life. All the educational institutions including Tibetan schools have remained closed since the mid of March this year to contain the COVID-19 outbreak. The Central Board of Secondary Education, Delhi in March 2020 announced the postponement of class XII board examination and was later rescheduled to be held from 1 – 15 July, 2020. Since then a large number of class XII students have been stranded in their respective schools to appear for the pending board examination. But recently, CBSE announced the cancellation of all the pending board examination.
As requested by the students and their parents, the Department of Education, CTA has been in constant communication with the Principals of TCV Selakui and Bylakuppe and provided the necessary guidance to prepare for the return of stranded students to their home in Dharamsala. Lugsam Tibetan Settlement Officer (TSO) has assisted in arranging bus for the students of TCV Bylakuppe and sought required permission from the District Administration to travel during the night despite lockdown on Sunday in Bengaluru, and the TSO Dharamsala provided the required recommendation for the students to enter the Kangra District. After making all the necessary arrangements, the DOE successfully brings back 27 students from TCV Selakui on July 2, 2020 and 25 students from TCV Bylakuppe on July 6, 2020 to Dharamsala.
Presently, all the students are quarantined at Sherab Gatsel Lobling and Administrative Training & Welfare Society, the two institutional quarantine centres of CTA. The successful return of all the students has been made possible with the collective effort of all the concerned school Principals and Tibetan Settlement Officer under the guidance of DOE and CTA COVID-19 Task Force.
