Paonta Sahib: CTA President Dr Lobsang Sangay visited Sambhota Tibetan school in Paonta Sahib on the evening of 20 February.
Around 240 students and teacher were present at the talk. School Principal Sonam Palkyi read out brief annual report and welcome Dr Lobsang Sangay.
Dr Sangay urged the students to study hard and have perseverance in whatever they pursue.
The talk was followed by a question and answer session from the students.
President Sangay met with Tibetans in the evening at a community hall. He appraised of his recent official visits to South Africa and the tremendous support from the Inkatha Freedom Party.
While sharing insights on the current situation in Tibet and the leadership of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, he elaborated on his visit to Stellenbosch University in Cape Town where he met with protest from students of the Confucius Institute. He said the Tibetan freedom struggle continues to receive tremendous support from all parts of the world.
He also spoke about the official ceremony of commemorating 60 years of the arrival of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Tibetans in India. “We are marking this year by expressing gratitude to the government and people of India.
In the end, he strongly stated that Tibetans must stand united in our struggle.
