Kashag Conducts Special Prayer for China Quake Victims

His Holiness the Dalai Lama presides over a special prayer congregation for the wellbeing of all sentient beings, and particularly for the enormous suffering caused to over 15 million people by a natural disaster that hit the Sichuan Province of the People's Republic of China on 12 May 2008. The Kashag of the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) organised the prayer session.

For the wellbeing of all sentient beings, and particularly for the enormous suffering caused to over 15 million people by a natural disaster that hit the Sichuan Province of the People's Republic of China on 12 May 2008, the Kashag of the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) is organising - through its Department of Religion and Culture - a grand prayer congregation today at the Thekchen Choeling monastery, led by His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

The recent earthquake in China has claimed 69,019 lives; injured 3,73,573 people; and led to the forced migration of 15.15 million people with an additional 18,627 people still missing.

Through this grand prayer ceremony, the Kashag prays for all the quake victims, including those who died in the recent earthquake and their families as well as for the speedy recovery of all those injured during the disaster. The Kashag also prays that natural calamities such as these may never occur in any part of the world.

The Kashag is appreciative of the great rescue and relief efforts undertaken by millions of people.

The Kashag would also like to acknowledge the contributions made by Peter Kwok and Patrick Ma towards the offering being made in this religious occasion.
