Press Release: His Holiness the Dalai Lama to Visit Delhi, Chandragiri, Warora, Bhandara, Mainpat, & Sarnath

Dharamsala, 31 December 2003: His Holiness the Dalai Lama is scheduled to depart Dharamsala on January 2nd for an extended visit to Delhi, Chandragiri, Warora, Bhandara, Mainpat, & Sarnath.

On the morning of January 3rd in Delhi, His Holiness will give an address on Harmony Among Different Religious Traditions at the Sri Sathya Sai International Center. In the afternoon, on the occasion of Tushita’s XVII Annual Dharma Celebration His Holiness will give a teaching on The Eightfold Path: The Way to Happiness at the Talkatora Indoor Stadium. His Holiness will depart Delhi on January 4th.

His Holiness arrives at Phuntsoling Tibetan Settlement located near Chandragiri (Orissa) on January 5th. During His two-day stay at Phuntsoling Tibetan Settlement on January 6th and 7th, His Holiness is expected to give a short teaching as well as address the Tibetans. His Holiness will depart Phuntsoling Tibetan Settlement on January 8th.

On January 9th, His Holiness arrives in Warora (Maharashtra) and visits the Maharogi Sewa Samiti, Anandwan, the ashram of Baba Amte, a renowned Indian social activist and close friend of His Holiness. His Holiness will spend time with Baba Amte and attend a program organized by the Maharogi Sewa Samiti, Anandwan.

On January 10th, His Holiness will travel to Bhandara (Maharashtra) and give a general teaching on Buddhism in the afternoon to several thousand Indian Buddhists.

His Holiness arrives at Norgyeling Tibetan Settlement near Bhandara (Maharashtra) on January 11th. During His stay at Norgyeling Tibetan Settlement on January 12th, His Holiness is again expected to give a short teaching as well as address the Tibetans. His Holiness will depart on January 13th.

On January 14th His Holiness will arrive in Mainpat (Chattisgarh) and proceed to Phendeling Tibetan Settlement. During His two-day stay at Phendeling Tibetan Settlement on January 15th and 16th, His Holiness is again expected to give a short teaching as well as address the Tibetans. His Holiness will depart Phendeling Tibetan Settlement on January 17th.

His Holiness arrives at the Central Institute of Higher Tibetan Studies (CIHTS), Sarnath (Uttar Pradesh) on January 17th for a three-day visit. On January 19th morning His Holiness will address the students and staff of CIHTS. On the morning of January 20th, His Holiness will inaugurate and address a Seminar organized by CIHTS on Human Values. His Holiness departs Sarnath on January 20th.

On January 21st, His Holiness will inaugurate and address a conference of Indian Tibet Support Groups. His Holiness returns to Dharamsala on January 22nd.
