Press Release: H.H. The Dalai Lama to visit Japan
His Holiness the Dalai Lama is scheduled to depart Dharamsala on 30th October for 12-day visit to Japan.
His Holiness arrives in Tokyo on Friday, October 31st and in the evening attends a welcome Reception organized by the main host of the visit. The members of Japan’s Parliamentarian Group for Tibet. On November 1st , His Holiness delivers a public talk for the Japanese youth titled The Power of Compassion. On the morning of November 2nd His Holiness gives a Buddhist teaching on Langri Thangpa’s Eight Verses of Training the Mind. In the afternoon His Holiness will participate in a dialogue between science and mind with the Japanese Nobel Laureate (Physics - 2002), Dr. Masatoshi Koshiba and Dr. Kazuo Murakami, Emeritus professor of Tsukuba University.
On November 4th His Holiness makes a pilgrimage to the Ise Shrine located on the banks of the Isuzu River. The Ise Shrine is Japan’s most important Shinto Shrine and serves as the center of all Shinto Shrines nationwide with almost all of Japan’s past emperors buried here.
His Holiness arrives in Nara on November 4th afternoon. On November 5th morning he will take part in an inter-religious dialogue with Buddhist, Christian & Islamic experts. His Holiness then makes a pilgrimage to Kofukuji Temple followed by a pilgrimage to Todaiji Temple, the most famous and oldest Buddhist Temple in Japan. In the early evening of November 5th, His Holiness gives a public talk in Nara titled Compassion in Daily life.
From November 6th to 9th, His Holiness visits Kanazawa on a private visit to Busshokai, a Buddhist Center.
His Holiness returns to Tokyo on November 10th and departs Japan for India on November 11th arriving in Dharamsala on November 12th.
