Development Issue and Needs

During the plan and beyond, the Department/CTRC will devote much of its energies and resources improving the livelihood support base in the settlements by improving agricultural productivity, providing skill training for self employment and supporting initiatives for private and cooperative enterprises which can generate employment for the youths. Improving the existing Socio-economic infrastructure and rehabilitation of the unsettled refugees who came into India between 1959 to 1997 will be given due emphasis in the plan implementation.

Among the settlements, those settlements located in Ladakh, North-east and Mainpat in Central India will be accorded the highest priority in the plan as level of income, infrastructure and over all indexes of development are found to be lowest among these settlements.
