Brief information about Tibetan Cholsum Industrail Settlement

Tibetan Cholsum Industrial Society, Paonta Sahib settlement was established in 1966 to rehabilitate 105 families at Paonta Sahib in Himachal Pardesh, India. Initially a fibre glass factory was established for the source of income to the settlers, but due to lack of fund and managerial experience it suffered heavy loss and wound up in 1970 and started land cultivation and carpet weaving as alternative source of livelihood. This settlement consist of 483 settlers at the begining but at the present there are 569 settlers spread over 34 arces of land areas. In order to generate income and employmenet opportunity to the settlers, small carpet weaving centre has been established in the settlement. Besides, Tibetan traditional incense making unit and dairy farm are also setup in the later years.

Brief history about PHC

Initially, it has small dispensary run by Tibetan Industrial Rehabilitation Society in 1969. But since 1984 it has been taken over and run by the Department of Health, Dharamsala. During the years it was extended to Primary Health Centre.

Facilities and Services provide by Hospital

Out-patients consultancy, Sputum, ESR, Hb testing, Immunization programme, TB(DOT programme). CHW also accompanies the serious patient to hospital in far off places such as Dehra Dun, Chandigarh, Rishikesh etc.

Occasionally the settlers are given health education on preventive & general health care. Talk on communicable diseases are often repeated like TB, AIDS etc.
