Brief information about Dekyiling Tibetan settlement
Dekyiling Tibetan Settlement is situated on the plains of an intermountain valley in the Swaliks, at altitude of 800m above sea level. It is about 10km north of Dehra Dun, the capital of Uttranchal state, and about 30km below the hill station called Mussoorie. Dehra Dun lies about 250km northeast of Delhi. The settlement was officially opened in 1986. It was started mainly for the rehabilitation of the 2nd batch of Tibetan refugees from Bhutan and unsettled Tibetans in the district of Dehra Dun. Since few years, Retired CTA staff were also given a house to settle in the settlement. The land allocation is meant for housing only. For the employment of settlers, a handicraft was started where they manufacture Tibetan carpets, colourful Tibetan women's apron, shoulder bag and Tibetan jacket materials.

Brief history about Dekyiling Tibetam Health Center
At the begining of the settlement, there was a dispensary to cater the health care needs of small population. The dispensary was built with the help of 'German Aid Organisation' and Dept. of Health(DoH), Dharamsala. Then it was look after by nurse in-charge. Within few years, the settlement's population was growth to nearly four times from original numbers and felt the need of good hospital to look after them. The DoH, Dharamsala took initiative in purchasing a land and began construction in 1993. The hospital was completed and finally inaugurated by His Holiness the Dalai Lama on 6th March 1995. The hospital was built with financial assistance from Medicine Du Mondi Association, France and DoH, Dharamsala.
