D'y Speaker concludes visit to Chandigarh, Simla and Delhi

Dharamshala: Dolma Gyari, deputy speaker of the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile, concluded her official visits to Simla, Delhi, Chandigarh and Jaipur.

On 3 May, the deputy speaker attended a seminar on 'Future of Tibet: Its People and Culture' at English Auditorium, Punjab University, Chandigarh. Her visit to Chandigarh was at the invitation of Retd. DGP P. C. Dogra, president of Forum on Integrated National Security.

During the seminar, she delivered speech on 'Policy Options for Tibetan Leadership - Expectations from the World Community'.

In Simla, on 5 May, the deputy speaker attended a meeting with Indresh Kumar, senior RSS leader, organised by the regional chapter of Himalayan Parivar at the Rotary Club. Acharya Yeshi Phuntsok, member of Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile and Nawang Younten, Tibetan Welfare Officer at Shimla were also present at the meeting. Prior to the meeting, they had a private luncheon at Raj Bhawan.

During the meeting, resolutions were passed expressing solidarity with the Tibetan people. The meeting was followed by a silent candle light procession, which culminated at the Gandhi memorial.

On 6 May, the deputy speaker and Kalon Tempa Tsering, representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in Delhi, attended a meeting of the convenors of the All Party Indian Parliamentary Forum (APIPFT) for Tibet in Delhi. Other members of APIPFT present at the meeting included Bashistha Narayan Singh, Mohan Singh, Kharabela Swain and O.T. Lepcha. Two members of Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile - Penpa Tsering and Acharya Yeshi Phuntsok, also attended the meeting.
