Dharamshala: His Holiness the Dalai Lama arrived in Seattle on April 10, 2008. His Holiness was received at the airport by Representative Tashi Wangdi and Lama Tenzin Dhonden, co-founder of the Seeds of Compassion, the organization that is hosting his visit to Seattle.
On his arrival at the hotel, His Holiness was greeted by members of the board of the Tibetan Association of Washington state, led by its President, Tashi Namgyal Khamritsang. Some members of the Association also sang a welcome song while offering Chemar to His Holiness.
His Holiness the Dalai Lama in response to a question from TV Asahi said that this visit was planned for more than a year and that it is mainly for education purposes to exchange views with students about compassion.
"It is sad. Of course my stand, everybody knows, I am not against Olympics taking place in China. Right from the beginning, I support it. Over a billion human beings really feel proud. So we must respect that." His Holiness the Dalai Lama added.
His official engagement in Seattle began from 11 April, which includes discussions on scientific research into compassion, business philanthropy and interfaith dialogue. He will also have a dialogue on kindness with school children.
His Holiness first visited Seattle in 1979. The local media in Seattle, including all the TV stations, carried curtain raiser stories on His Holiness' visit, with footage of his previous visits.
