Dharamshala: If art is something that "stimulates an individual's thoughts, emotions, beliefs or ideas through the senses" then the works of art by two fresh graduates exhibited here at the Tibet Museum are as good as they can come.

The exhibition is the first in a series of three international exhibitions, showcasing some 30-odd sterling artworks of two Tibetan women artists, Kelsang Dekyi and Sonam Lhamo, who recently earned their college degrees in art.

Their paintings are a well-spring of popular Tibetan emotions, conceptions and mood that bespoke not only of their inheritance from the past, but also of their future aspirations, Kalon Tripa Samdhong Rinpoche said, at the opening of the exhibition yesterday afternoon.

The quality of skill and imagination displayed in the creative expressions of the two young artists are highly impressive, Kalon Tripa added.

Apart from others, the exhibition aims to serve the Tibetan cause by conveying the physical and emotional status of Tibetans in and outside Tibet through the medium of art.

The exhibition is opened only until 24 June. In case, you missed it - the artworks will be exhibited again in the Kalstard University of Sweden from 15 to 24 August 2007, and in Paris, France, from 1 to 14 September 2007.
