His Holiness visits Australia & New Zealand

Dharamshala: His Holiness the Dalai Lama left here yesterday morning on a two-week-long tour of Australia and New Zealand.

After arriving Perth, the capital of Western Australia, His Holiness is expected to give a major public talk on "Ethics for the New Millennium" at Burswood Dome on Wednesday, 6 June, in addition to attending a Forum "Spirituality and Sustainability".

In Bendigo, on Wednesday, 7 June, His Holiness will lead a blessing prayer at the Great Stupa of Universal Compassion and also consecrate a statue of Guru Rinpoche.

In Melbourne, on Thursday, 8 June, at the Rod Laver Arena, His Holiness will start a three-day teaching on Geshe Langri Thangpa's "Eight Verses for Training the Mind" and the "Commentary on Bodhicitta" by Nagarjuna, in addition to conferring a Manjushree Empowerment.

On the margins of the teachings, His Holiness will also attend "Multi-Faith Youth Forum for School Children" and a conference on "The Middle-Way Approach: a peaceful resolution to the issue of Tibet" organized by the Australian Tibetan Council, apart from giving a public talk on Universal Responsibility.

After giving a White Tara Initiation (drolkar wang) at Geelong Arena on 11 June, His Holiness will attend a symposium on "Embracing kindness - many paths to peace" at Australian National University in Canberra on 12 June.

In Brisbane on 13 June, His Holiness will give a major public talk on Compassion and Kindness at Brisbane Entertainment Centre, following a talk on kindness to animals and environment at the public launch of Kindness Week at the Australian Zoo.

After addressing a tribute concert featuring some of Australia’s finest acoustic talent, staged in Sydney's Domain on 15 June, in celebration of His Holiness as a living example of the power of compassion and non-violence, His Holiness will wrap up this tour with a major public talk on The Power of Compassion at the Domain on 16 June.

In New Zealand

After arriving Auckland on 16 June, on the next day, His Holiness will give a public talk on "Kindness and Compassion" at the Vector Arena, during which His Holiness will be introduced by Sir Edmund Hilary.

After giving a teaching on The Four Noble Truths at Vector Arena on 18 June. His Holiness will visit Wellington, where he is expected to give a talk on A Human Approach to World Peace on 19 June.
