Dharamshala: The Tibetan Children's Village (TCV) yesterday celebrated its 46th founding anniversary with great fanfare. The popularity of the TCV anniversary is not just linked to the TCV and its branch schools. It is one of the occasions in Dharamshala that draws the largest crowd.

Like every year His Holiness the Dalai Lama graced the occasion. Addressing the gathering, His Holiness the Dalai Lama said, the exile Tibetans are receiving education with the generous help of other people when our civilisation is

experiencing problematic situation. So the main aim after completing education should be to serve the Tibetan civilisation in need and to live up to the expectation of those who have been helping us. We should not let others help go in vain, His Holiness said.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama also emphasised the importance of moral and ethical values. His Holiness said he does not link developing moral values and compassionate heart with religion only. The scientists also admit that compassion is the key factor to a happy and healthy life.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama lauded the people's response to his advice to shun clothes made of animal skin.

His Holiness said he hears about AIDS in the Tibetan community, which is something very important to be taken care of. Poverty and ignorance drove the Tibetans especially in Tibet to prostitution and they indulge in such works without knowing the dangers of AIDS. His Holiness said it is important to make them aware of the risks and measures to prevent it.

Kalon Tripa, Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche and the speaker of the Tibetan Parliament in Exile, Karma Choephel, appreciated Kasur Jetsun Pema for her dedications and contributions to improving education of the Tibetan children in 42 years of service for the TCV.

Kasur Jetsun Pema also known as Ama Jetsun Pema was awarded a gratitude award at the occasion.

Clarifying the doubts of masses on why the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) has not responded the Chinese government's act of denouncing His Holiness the

Dalai Lama and condemning the Middle-Way Approach since this May, Kalon Tripa said, to reciprocate their act is not in favour of the CTA's principles of truth and non-violence. The most appropriate way to respond the Chinese government is to make clarifications through envoys. We will continue our efforts to resolve the issue of Tibet through truth, non-violence and the Middle-Way policy, Kalon Tripa said.

In his address at the occasion, the exile parliament speaker stressed the importance of morality with education.
