Dharamsala, 21 December: The Central Tibetan Administration will give 160000 rupees as relief to the families affected by yesterday's fire. This was announced by the acting Kalon Tripa Thupten Lungrik at a meeting with the members of the shopkeepers’ association today. He said his administration is deeply concerned about the welfare of the families who have been affected by the fire and assured of all possible assistance. Those who have lost shops will get 10000 rupees and the families whose houses have been gutted will get 15000 rupees as relief. The Assembly of the Tibetan People's Deputies offered 6000 rupees as a token of its sympathy with the families.

In yet another gesture of friendship between the two communities the Indian shopkeepers’ association donated 100000 rupees while the local taxi union contributed twenty one thousand rupees for the rehabilitation of the affected families.

Mr. Shrikant Baldi, Deputy Commissioner, Kangra district, promised to provide all possible help to the Tibetans at a meeting held yesterday which was attended by the Tibetan welfare officer, members of the Tibetan shopkeepers’ association and representatives of Dharamsala Municipal Council.
