Issue of Tibet Presented in Hungarian Parliament

Budapest, 12 July: The Committee of Human Rights of the Hungarian Parliament has recently presented a resolution on the issue of Tibet to the national Parliament. According to the resolution the Parliament would urge the Hungarian government to help start negotiations between China and His Holiness the Dalai Lama on the new status of Tibet, which would ensure autonomy for Tibet politically, economically, socially as well as culturally.

The resolution further says that the Hungarian Parliament should state that " China should respect human rights accepted by the international community and stop using violent means in Tibet". This resolution signed by four members of the Committee Dr. Suchman Tamas, Dr. Fodor Gabor, Mr. Szaszfalvi Laszlo and Dr. Semjen Zsolt was presented to the Hungarian Parliament on June 24, 2004.
