Concert for Tibet in Paris

Dharamsala, 10 October 2003: The capital of fashion world will witness a large gathering of people for a musical concert featuring various artists including monks from Gyuto monastery on October 14. Named Tibet Libre, the event is being hosted by the ‘Solidarite Tibet’ at the Zenith of Paris during the forthcoming visit of His Holiness the Dalai Lama who is currently in Spain on a visit to four European countries.

The concert is expected to bring together artists with various backgrounds for a common cause and to inform the public of the injustice inflicted upon the Tibetan people.

The concert is aimed to raise funds to help humanitarian, educational and cultural projects of exiled Tibetans in India and Nepal. A press conference is scheduled for the day during which 100,000 signed petitions will be sent to the French President.

The petition seeks immediate and unconditional release of the young Panchen Lama or at least a public intervention of the French head of state to his Chinese counterpart in order to obtain an authorisation for a delegation of independent observers to visit Gendun Chokyi Nyima. His Holiness the Dalai Lama will be in France from October 11-17, a press release issued by Solidarite Tibet said.
